With a loud whistle, the train from Ponyville finally reaches its destination in Canterlot station. Despite the weather, ponies are found hustling and bustling with their daily business. The brakes screech as the locomotive comes to a halt. As the crew unloads the train's larger cargo, the doors to the passenger carts open.
"And were off." Foxtrot says with some fervor as he opens the divider. "Lets get out of here."

Tinder stares out the window until the train stops, when it finally does she stands up and stretches a bit, a very quick flash of pain crossing her face as she does so. Hoping that Foxtrot didn't notice she realizes that she needs to find a moment alone to take what she needs. But she can hold out for a little bit longer until it gets too bad again. She follows behind as Foxtrot leaves and nods, "Yeah, let's go. Where do you want to check first?"

"Lets head over to the castle. It's pretty much the main attraction of the city." Foxtrot answers. As they exit the station he looks around, still expecting to see wanted posters but not finding any. "How you feeling Tinder?"

She nods and follows behind, her pace a bit slower then before, "Castle sounds good, haven't been in a castle before." When asked how she is she looks at him and smiles as much as she can while her last dose is loosing affect, trying to hide it the best she can that she's in any amount of pain. "I'm fine, fine. Totally a-okay."

"Alright, well if you see anything you want to check out, just let me know." Foxtrot says as they venture through the streets of Canterlot. The weather seems to be clearing out as the sun begins to fall towards the horizon. Businesses begin closing as ponies start to head home and call it a night.

Tinder knows she's gonna have to wait till they get to the castle before she can do much of anything about the pain, so she just follows and ignores it as much as she can. "I don't really know much about this place to be honest, so I don't even know what there is around to check out." She keeps her eyes on any ponies that come near to them, if any come close enough and seem to be distracted she quickly picks their pockets as they pass, putting any items she earns into her bag.

"Well it's a pretty big place so hopefully we don't get lost. I've been in Canterlot a few times but not enough to know it by hoof." Foxtrot replies as he continues down the road to the castle. The two pass several distracted nobles and ponies too busy to talk about their own matters. After some time they reach the castle as the sun touches the horizon, the starry night filling the air as the day fades off. "Alright, let's wait til it gets a bit darker. From there we can check out the real sights."

Tinder smirks a bit every time she gets something off of these nobles, glad that she's gonna have something to sell in when she gets back. "Yeah, I'm sure we'll be fine. And you've been here more then I have, this is my first time, so I can't help at all with the directions." As time goes on the more Tinder slows down, and more and more often are her steps marked with the shooting pain that crosses her face but doesn't escape her lips. Not once does she make a sound, she just looks away and hopes he doesn't notice. Even though she needs them, she is still much too nervous to take them in front of him.

As the sun finally exits the scene and night falls over the city, most ponies have now gone indoors for the evening. The guards change their shifts as noctrals take their posts around the castle. Foxtrot leads Tinder to a more remote section of the castle. Looking around he finds a part of the fence he and Tinder can climb over without being detected. "So, you ready to see something so cool we could get in trouble for being there?"

Tinder looks at the fence she's been brought to and realizes that she's gonna be expected to climb it, she sighs a tiny bit as she thinks about it and nods. "Yeah, I wanna see whatever you're talking about. I mean all the coolest things can get you in trouble right." She smiles as much as she can at him before heading for the fence, trying to figure out a way to climb it that gonna cause the least amount of pain possible.

Foxtrot steps over to the fence and kneels down, "Here, I'll give you a boost." He looks around to make sure no guards are near.

Tinder glances around once more before going. Using him as a boost she makes her way up and over the fence, getting down is not to easy of a task. Instead of a graceful climb down, it's more of a tumble, which leaves her lying on the ground on her side. It's the first time that a noise caused by her pain escapes her lips as she groans in pain a tiny bit as she lays there, figuring there is no point in even trying to get up until Foxtrot gets over.

"Tinder?" Foxtrot asks as he looks over his shoulder. As soon as he sees her laying on the ground he tenses up, "Oh sh- hang on!" Stepping back the unicorn make a running start before leaping over the fence, landing a short distance away from her. "Are you alright? Here let me help you up." Foxtrot hurries over to the mare and helps her up to a sitting position. "You ok?"

Tinder's ears twitch about as she hears him do all this, weighing every part of this situation and trying to figure out what to do next. Realizing that she's not gonna be able to go much longer until she becomes useless, unless she takes what she needs, she decides on the best plan of action. As she's moved into a sitting position she winces a bit and nods at him, she breathing every so slightly jagged, "Yeah, I'm fine, fine. Just could you get the pill bottle from my bag please? I'm fine though."

Without hesitating Foxtrot goes into the bag and rummaged for the bottle. Within moments he retrieves it and gives it to Tinder. "Here. Do you need anything to drink with that?"

Tinder shakes her head a bit as she pops open the bottle, grabbing a couple from it and downing them. She holds the bottle out to him and she takes a couple deep breaths, "Could you put it back in the bag? Magic and pain don't mix all that well for me, gotta give it a minute. Any chance we could wait here for a second?"
The pills and the name scrawled on the label on the bottle can be recognized as a very high strength pain killer, and by the looks of that bottle they were not obtained legally. She talked about how she was in debt but never did say why, and these pills seem like a pretty good reason for that.

Foxtrot takes the pills and places them back in her bag. "Yea, we can wait here for a bit. Whenever you're ready to go just say so." The unicorn scans around for any guards once again. Seeing the coast is still clear he sits next to Tinder, "That's some high grade painkillers you have there. It must be bad if you need that strong of a dosage. I take it there not easy to come by either."

She continues to stares at the ground as she waits for them to cut in even a little, when he starts talking about the painkillers she glances over at him for a second before looking back. "You didn't think I was just slowing down earlier because I was tired did you? Yeah it hurts, if it didn't I wouldn't be spending every penny I have on it and then some that I don't have. And you spend some time in jail and you get to know where to find a lot of things you wouldn't before."

Foxtrot nods as he listens to Tinder, "I see how that can be problematic." Looking up he gets an idea, "Hey, when I meet my contact, I can ask them to look into something to help you out. I don't know how exactly but I'm sure we could do something." Staring at the sky he sees the full moon and stars.

Tinder looks over at him, a slight smile crossing her face at his kindness, "As much as I would love to find a way out of this problem, I can't go having you and your contact helping me. That's much too much trouble to make you go through, I mean you hardly know me and I don't even know this contact of yours, I can't expect them to do things for me."

"Tinder trust me." Foxtrot explains, "Your help in Ponyville was much more than you'd think. Besides if my contact found out about you, they'd want to help too." The unicorn looks over to the pathway laying adjacent to them. "It shouldn't matter how much I know you; besides, isn't that what we're doing now? Getting to know each other more?"

"I didn't even do that much, all I did was let you stay at my place for the night. And I'm not sure your contact will really want to help me since I haven't done anything at all for them, especially if helping me takes a lot of work." She looks back at the ground for a second before slowly moving to stand again, "We are certainly getting to know each other now though. We should be going to see this thing you wanted to show me though, before some guards come and find us here."

"Yea, we should get going. The guards sometimes change their patrol times." Foxtrot says as he gets up. "As for my contact, we'll cross that bridge when we get there." Looking around he waves Tinder over to follow him. With a sense of caution, he leads her to the Royal Gardens; more specifically to a bed of flowers that haven't opened up yet. "Here it is, they should be opening up any minute now."

Tinder follows close behind, excited to see what it is he was going to show her. She seems to be back to normal again now, her walking speeding back up and no longer does pain cross her face. When they reach the flowers she looks at them and tilts her head a bit, "opening now? But it's night, I thought flowers opened in the day."

"Technically yes." Foxtrot replies as he sits down to get comfortable. "But these are a bit different. Watch and be amazed!" A good minute passes before anything happens, "Alright it may take some time; I don't know exactly when they bloom but it should be soon. Take a seat, get comfy. How's your head feeling?"

Tinder continues to stares at the flowers as she sits next to Foxtrot. Not taking her eyes off them since she doesn't want to miss this. She take's a second to think again before answering him, deciding that at this point she might as well be truthful about this part of her life at least. "Head is fine, always was. My side is what hurts right now, but it's fairly good at the moment, the pain is back down to the barely noticeable lull I'm used to. I can't expect to be completely pain free when I got my saddle bag rubbing up against it all the time to hide it."

"Your side?" Foxtrot asks, rather confused. "What happened to your side?"

Tinder looks over at him for half a second before looking back at the flowers, "Nothing you need to worry about right now. Magic goes haywire while I sleep, end up with burns when I wake, no big deal really. Just pain is all."

"That's rough." Foxtrot replies. "I hope it's not something perma- oh!" He taps her shoulder with excitement, "Here we go, it's starting!" The blue and violet flowers in front of them begin to glow, their green petals changing to a white color. As soon as they open up, a flurry of golden pollen sprouts into the air, creating the illusion of a starry night right in front of them. The particles hover around the garden as the flowers remain glowing at the bottom of the flower bed. "These guys always do this at night. I wish I knew what they were called."

Tinder stares at the flowers in amazement as they open. All thoughts of the past little bit drifting from her head as she focuses on these beautiful plants, this large smile plastered across her face. "This is absolutely amazing, I didn't know flowers could even do this. I wish I had some of these at my place, because these are awesome." She looks over at Foxtrot after a bit, "So, you spend a lot of nights here? Or did you just know that these do this?"

"Mostly the first one." Foxtrot answers. "That's how I found out about these, by accident rather." The unicorn chuckles, "I also accidentally ate one of those pollen things. As great as they look, they taste terrible."

"Well that's good to know, because I was quite tempted to try to eat one." She giigles a bit and leans forward to get a closer look at the flowers, "So, if you don't mind me asking, what were you doing here? Seems like an odd place to spend your nights."

Foxtrot pauses before answering Tinder's question, "There were several periods of time where I didn't have anywhere to sleep at night. Guards would hassle me for loitering in the streets, thugs would try to rob or kill me. One night I took a chance and came here. I didn't even venture that far to begin with, I just stayed at the fence line. Later on I went further onto the grounds, noted the patrols and worked my way around that. It was safer here than the streets, and the views sometimes were amazing." The unicorn chuckles, "I actually made it to one of the tower balconies. Not where the princesses were, but the ones next to them. I even spotted Luna one time." Foxtrot looks up at the sky, the golden spores now floating overhead, "Its great to be here by myself at times but... I don't know. I guess after wandering so much you just want a place to call your own."

Tinder listens to him as she stares at the spores, taking the beautiful sight in, "It's pretty good that you managed to find a place to sleep in here. When you're living without a home having a safe place to sleep can be quite a problem. I lived in the alley with all those who raised me there, so I was always pretty safe, those folk would protect me with their lives." She yawns a tiny bit as she continues speaking, "But I understand what you're saying, it's nice to have a place for yourself that's not an alley or a flower garden."

"Yea it is nice." Foxtrot replies, yawning as well. "Speaking of which, we need to find a place to sleep as well. It is getting late. We can go find an inn or just sleep here at the garden."

Tinder looks around a bit as she thinks, "The problem with inns is that they cost money, and I'm not exactly loaded with cash right now. I got the stuff I stole earlier but there is no pawn shops open for me to pawn it off, and the bits I stole aren't enough to get a room for the night." She goes back to staring at the flowers and smiles, "And I mean this place is nice, I wouldn't mind sleeping here. Unless you think the guards might come around and find us."

Foxtrot his head, "Well the guard patrol is routine. In fact, there's a gazebo they never check, lazy bastards." Foxtrot gets up and stretches, "It's on the other side of the garden. We just gotta keep an eye out for guards on the way there."

Tinder nods and stands up, taking one last good look at the flowers before starting to keep an eye out for the guards, "Hopefully this won't be the one night that they actually bother to check the gazebo. Though right now, I'm honestly too tired to care if we do get caught. I mean what's the worse they can do to us?"

Foxtrot looks around and begins walking to the gazebo, "Worst case scenario they'll say we're trespassing. Ask us why, and then throw us out, quite literally. The hardest thing would be the landing."

Tinder follows a couple steps behind and nods, "Well that's not too bad then, it could be much worse. Plus, I'm sure between the two of us we could make up some kind of story that would get them to let us stay for the night. They wouldn't want to throw an injured pony out on the street would they? So if we need to I can pull that card, haul out the burns and maybe they'll pity us."

As Foxtrot continues forward he looks over to some exotic flowers up ahead. "Yea I'm sure they'll feel bad and let us stay. If we're lucky they may even give us beds inside the castle for the night." As they approach the flowers he plucks one and offers it to Tinder. "And if they don't go for that, I'll tell them I'm magically disabled. In Canterlot that's the most pitiful thing you can find in this city of magic. They would have to feel bad and let us stay for the night guaranteed."

Tinder smiles a little as she takes the flower and puts it behind her ear, "Exactly, we'll be set. They will definitely let us stay the night if we tell them that, it's the perfect plan. I almost want to get caught to see if it will work."

Foxtrot watches the stranger run by and just accepts it. "Yea, I wonder what they would do if they caught them. Anyway, the gazebo should be up ahead." The unicorn heads to a slightly worn down gazebo, a big disc lock protecting it from intruders. "Wow they actually locked it this time. Just one moment..." Foxtrot pulls out a lock pick and gets to work, in less than a minute the lock clicks open and he pulls the door back. "After you madam."

Tinder watches him work, a large smile crossing her face as she see's the lock pop open, "I see that's not the first time you've picked a lock." She walks into the gazebo and waits for him to come in, "Do you want me to lock the lock with my magic so it doesn't look like anyone is in here? Mind you it will take me a while to pick it with my magic in the morning."

"You don't have to." Foxtrot answers as he steps inside, reaching his hoof over to close the door and place the lock back on. "I'm just going to leave it a tiny bit open. Small enough to avoid being noticed but open enough to not lock us in." With that sorted he lays down and slings off his guitar and gear. "Well, it may not be the most luxurious of places, but least you can say you spent a night on royal property."

Tinder chuckles a bit and lays down where she's standing, keeping her saddle bag on as she moves around a bit to get comfy. "Hey, they is much nicer then some places I've slept in the past. Honestly, I would rather sleep in here then my house, it's nice and cool and there are no annoying neighbors."

"Ah no annoying neighbors is the icing on the cake." Foxtrot replies as he pulls his backpack to his head for a makeshift pillow. He lays his head back and sighs, "Have a good night Tinder. See you in the morning." With that he yawns once more and turns over to go sleep.

Tinder grabs her usually pill bottle from her bag and takes a couple more before curling up to sleep, "Good night, sleep well." She closes her eyes and hopes that for once she'll be able to get a full nights sleep without waking up to nightmares again.
